How it started: Purmer Plantenhal
Kees Hofman, my father, started in the flower world at the age of 17 and discovered great opportunities in Germany. The flower market there was not yet blooming, and his stall was a great success. Everyone lined up to buy flowers at his stall.
After a number of years he returned to the Netherlands and opened his first store, the Purmer Plantenhal (PP). More shops soon followed, and he started buying his flowers directly from the auction. More and more other flower shops also wanted to benefit from this and that is how the flower wholesale business was created; PP Flowers. The shops still exist, but have been run by independent entrepreneurs for years now. Each under his own name.
